Building Your Own Community: MCLife Phoenix
Let’s get right to it! We want to help give you all the tools to create a happy and healthy community that brings you joy. We have some easy ways for you to engage and small steps you can take to be a more active part of the neighborhood that is thriving all around you!
Put Yourself Out There
It’s no secret that the last few years have been tough. We’ve all had to adjust to a new way of life and for many of us that meant a big sense of loneliness and isolation. Now that it’s safer to get together and meet new people again we should focus on doing just that!
As a community member it’s up to you who you will engage with and build bonds with. You can’t know people or even meet people if you don’t put yourself out there. Be willing to take the first steps to engage with others. Coming from a place of openness and willingness to engage will make a huge difference in how you interact with your community and its members.
You don’t have to be a party goer or a really adventurous person to meet the people around you, in fact sometimes it’s nice to find and meet people while doing the things YOU enjoy. It gives you a nice foundation of common ground!
You can’t know anyone if you never introduce yourself! It’s as simple as walking up and saying “Hi”. Tell them your name and something about yourself. It’s a great way to engage your fellow community members! Meeting new people can be stressful but it doesn’t have to be. You can always post online looking for people with similar interests in your community so that you are meeting people who have a common hobby or interest. Search for someone to walk your dog with, someone to workout with, or just a buddy to hang out with poolside this summer! Get out there and turn those strangers into friends!
Sharing Is Caring
Sharing really is caring. It’s super simple to build relationships and meet new people just by sharing! Share something about yourself after you introduce yourself, share some drinks or food around the grill or at the pool, share your time or talents. Sharing is an easy way to engage with those around you and an awesome way to build your community. It’s also great to share things with people who like the same things you do…those people you see at the pool or in the gym all the time? You have something in common with them already!
Offer To Help
Is there something you can offer to your community or even just to other community members? Do you have a skill, side hustle, work opportunity, or just some free time? A great way to make friends and build an engaging community is to offer to help! Lending a hand, spending time, sharing your skills, etc. these are all awesome ways to build your community! It’s also a really great way to build bonds with those around you. It doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money to do nice things for others and the time you spend with others doing something together is never wasted!
Joining in on the fun is one of the best ways to engage with your community. You have to be willing to engage with others if you want to foster a sense of community and friendship. As a community we host monthly events for community members. The good news is that you will already have a good foundation with the people you meet at these functions because you are all living in the same community! Once you join in it’s easy to turn those strangers into friends and it’s even better because you live close to one another!
Make sure to follow along on social media for updates about the events, timing, etc.
At the end of the day, as with most things in life, you are only going to get out of something what you are willing to put in. With a little effort and perhaps some fun, you’ll be connecting with new people, making changes, and impacting your overall community more than you know!
Let us know in the comments what your favorite way to meet new people and make new friends is so everyone can join in the fun!
