Traveling To Phoenix | Traveling From Phoenix: Budget-Friendly Travel Tips

Okay, let’s dive in and learn more about traveling to Phoenix or traveling from Phoenix on a budget. There are some simple things you can do to save yourself a lot of money. It will mean extra money is available to be spent on experiences, entertainment, and more during your trip so these tactics are invaluable for budget-friendly travel.

Be Flexible

The first and perhaps most important rule about budget-friendly travel in Phoenix and elsewhere in the world is that you should be flexible. If you are flexible on your travel dates you can get cheaper flights, hotel stays, and rental cars.

Pretty much anything that needs to be booked in advance will be less expensive if you can travel during off seasons, less busy times, etc. After you look at your prime dates, be sure to check other times to see if you can get a better price a few weeks before or after or even just a few days difference.

For example, you can usually get mid-week flights and hotel stays much cheaper than weekend stays!

Bundle Your Travel Reservations

If you are traveling on a budget, one easy way to save a ton of money is to book your hotel, flights, and rental cars as a bundle. Use travel sites that offer all three in packages because you will get a greater discount!

There are so many travel sites nowadays that you can easily compare the bundles to get the best deal on your bundle for whichever site can offer it the lowest.

Bundling your travel accommodations also makes it easier to keep track of everything in one app or reservation!

Choose Destinations Wisely

There’s nothing worse than planning a full trip and then realizing when you get there that everything is very expensive. Check before you book your travel to make sure you will be able to comfortably afford to eat, purchase experiences, souvenirs, etc. while in your intended destination.

If you are not too rigid in your travel plans you can find inexpensive places to travel in pretty much all categories. You can also use this advice when traveling in the states. Book accommodations outside city centers to get them cheaper while still being close enough to take advantage of local museums, entertainment, etc.

Be Adventurous

This might seem unusual to see in a budget travel article but hear me out…You should look for ways to be adventurous when traveling on a budget. Check out local places that are not intended for tourists.

Not only will you find exciting and off-the-beaten-path gems, but you’ll also get to experience local customs, meet new people, and find the best eats! Everything from local markets to street vendors will make your stay more memorable and less expensive.

The same goes for local tours and learning experiences. You can usually find local guides who give small guided tours where you’ll just need to tip the guide. It’s a great way to save money while getting an up-close look at your destination.

Ask street vendors, locals you meet in restaurants, hotel employees, etc for advice on where to find a local guide. You’ll have a chance to meet new people while also saving money!

Travel Off Peak

This should be at the top of your list for a couple of reasons. First, you’ll save a ton on travel expenses. Second, you’ll have better access to the area you are looking to explore. Finally, you will likely find more friendly service and locals.

Peak travel seasons can be stressful for everyone who calls a place home all year long. Of course, during a peak season, they’ll be more overwhelmed and often that translates to higher costs and less than stellar service.

You can save money by traveling during the off-seasons and also you won’t be overwhelmed by the people who are there for the same thing as you. No need to fight through crowds and the service people in the area are going to be happier to see you, it’s a win-win!

Be sure to use this advice only for places that don’t fully shut down for the off-peak seasons. Things that require a certain season like skiing, water sports, etc. obviously don’t fall into this category because you need certain temperatures to enjoy them. Travel off-peak in areas wherever possible so you can save funds to visit those other locations!!
