What is cystic fibrosis?
Never heard of cystic fibrosis? That’s okay, you are learning about it now. Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disease that affects 30,000 people in the United States. Cystic Fibrosis damages the lungs and digestive system of those living with the disease; it is caused by a gene that causes the production of an extra sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and digestive tract. It is a painful disease that takes a heavy toll on those suffering from it as well as their loved ones.
What is Great Strides?
Every year, the Cystic Fibrosis holds Great Strides walks across the nation. These charity walks are an opportunity to spread awareness about cystic fibrosis in cities across the United States. Families affected with cystic fibrosis come out to these events to support their loved ones and bring along friends and family.
The Great Strides events are also a fundraising opportunity. All of the funds raised through these walks go towards lifesaving research, resources and programs done by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Scottsdale Great Strides 2015 will be at Scottsdale Promenade on Saturday December 5th. We invite you to join us!
